A swab can save a life
Two months ago, a worried Sharon Simon was reeling over disturbing news: Her dad's siblings were not matches for his desperately needed bone marrow transplant. The setback didn't stop Simon, who immediately spun the situation into a positive. "I came up with the idea to organize a bone marrow donor drive while I was on my way to work one morning," she said. The event might help prolong her dad's life -- and would almost certainly help the lives of others. Her father, Jon Simon, a 30-year Deerfield resident, was diagnosed in June 2007 with non-Hodgkin's mantle B cell lymphoma, a very aggressive disease of the immune system. He's now on his third round of a fourth type of chemotherapy. clipped from www.pioneerlocal.com A swab can save a life clipped from www.google.com
