MCL survival from SCT is 6 years this month
Mantle cell lymphoma is called that because it usually infiltrates the Mantle Zone of the lymph nodes. That is the area surrounding the lymphoid follicles. When it remains in the mantle zone it generally follows a more indolent course. When it spreads outside this area, in a more diffuse growth pattern, its behavior becomes less indolent and more aggressive.
It was this aggressive form of MCL that I contracted in March 2006 and for which I ultimately received an allogeneic stem cell transplant in August 2007 at City of Hope, Duarte, CA.
