A “vaccine” which harnesses the body's own immune system to fight prostate cancer has been approved for use by US drug regulators. Although the press is calling this breakthrough a vaccine, the development is actually a form of immunotherapy where scientists have found an important new way to boost the body's own immune system to combat cancer.

Is this a sign that a cancer 'cure' is soon to come?
Cancer survivors like me and millions of others who may one day face the diagnosis were heartened this week by this exciting news about the FDA approval for a new form of immunotherapy. This type of treatment is at the leading edge of the search for a cure.
